lorenz,
doesn’t matter what equipment you’re using, remember it’s the person behind the camera that create the photos. it’s really good to know that you take time every weekend to shoot. you can go through my tutorial & tips page to get some insights on the basics.
keep on shooting!

Hi Jun! This is an amazing website!
I’ve always enjoyed taking photos and on my recent visit to SM City Iloilo, I saw an exhibit by the PSI, however I couldn’t find any contact persons and details.
I’ll be going back to Prague very soon, but I hope to join this prestigious group one day.
Please drop me a line on my E-mail.
Many thanks,
Glenn

p.s. -
as i was taking my morning walk early today, the idea came to my mind that we can hold a photo exhibit on the new iloilo capitol. i saw beautiful photos on flickr that i consider postcard quality. this photo exhibit can both be print and digital. the digital exhibit can be viewed on our provincial web site, http://iloilo.gov.ph.

Hi Jun,
Nice to see you in cyberspace. Photography used to be a passion when I was an active journalist. I’ve had dramatic photos published by Agence France Presse and AsiaWeek, not to mention the local newspapers. I’m back to the basic point-and-shoot digital camera just for documentation purposes.

Nowell,
There’s a camera/lens repair store here in Iloilo City. Although I havnt had any repairs done there, the other PSI members who did are giving good feedback.
Its located near Marymart Mall in front of Citi Appliance. Its near where the pirated CDs are sold. The rates are reasonable daw.
Good luck!

Sir Jun, thanks for the advise. Which leads me to my next question, do you know a place where they can fix old cameras?thanks.

Hi sir jun!
I just started into photography this january 2008 when I bought my very first DSLR (Canon EOS 40D). I’m really into it now but I must admit that I really need help in my composition, settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, etc.)…and I havent gone into any formal photography schooling, seminars etc.
I’m also finding it hard to do some PP via the photoshop…unfortunately I dont have any Adobe Photoshop trainings or seminars.
By the way, last Sunday, February 17, 2008, I was also shooting as an amateur photographer in the 36th Paraw Regatta..where obviously I saw you po…I was really more inspired when I saw you and the PSI group….hehehe

Hi Nowell!
We’re a mixed bag here…
Nikon DSLR-9 users
Canon DSLR-8 users
Film User-1 (He considers himself a purist hehe)
Sony-1 user
Kodak-1 user
My advise:
1-Look for a DSLR you’re comfy with (controls, ease of use, etc).
2-Make sure the camera has most, if not all, the features you’re looking for.
3-System where you can expand easily & accessories readily available.
4-Service Center availabilty & quality. I use a canon & there is a service center in the phil. But their service is bad, bad, bad. Not sure for nikon though but i read at phphoto before that its also the same as canon.
